What is the difference between Original Surface and Sanded Finish?
What is the difference between Original Surface and Sanded Finish?
Original Surface: Preserves the natural patina, wear, and traces of the timber's past. Characteristic details like cracks, colour variations, and old nail holes are left intact. Ideal for those seeking a rustic, vintage aesthetic.
Sanded Finish: The timber is carefully sanded to create a smooth surface, then protected with natural oil or varnish. The wood's grain and colour tones become more pronounced, providing a cleaner, more contemporary look. Both options preserve the timber's authenticity — it's simply a matter of aesthetic preference.
How long does the crafting process usually take?
How long does the crafting process usually take?
For our standard pieces, production time typically ranges from 4-6 weeks. For bespoke dimensions or designs, this can extend to 6-8 weeks. Each piece of timber is individually selected, processed, dried, and assembled — it takes time, but the result is furniture built to last generations. We'll keep you informed at every stage of your order.
Where does Woody Workz source its reclaimed timber?
Where does Woody Workz source its reclaimed timber?
Our reclaimed solid oak comes from old structures being demolished or restored — houses, barns, factory beams. Each piece has lived for decades, even centuries, as part of a building, gaining its character over time. We also use FSC-certified new timber — so we're both preserving the past and supporting sustainable forestry. No tree is felled for our timber.
How should reclaimed wood be cared for at home?
How should reclaimed wood be cared for at home?
Reclaimed timber is far more durable than you might think! Maintenance is quite simple:
- Daily cleaning: Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid excessive water.
- Stain removal: Use natural soapy water or specialist wood cleaner.
- Protection: Feed and protect the surface 1-2 times a year with natural wood oil (linseed oil, walnut oil).
- Heat & moisture protection: Use mats under hot dishes, keep out of direct sunlight.
- Scratches: Minor scratches become part of the patina over time — it's the natural beauty of timber.
